Paramount Theater - Seattle, WA - May 9, 2000

Before the concert, the guys of Tonic did an on air interview on Seattle's KISS 106.1 as well as a short acoustic set of which only one song was broadcast. The links provided below will allow you to download both parts of the interview and below is my concert review from that night. Unfortunantly no photos are availible because the venue security padded down everyone who went in and cameras were not allowed. Sorry about that.

Tonic Interview - Part 1 w/ live acoustic "Drag Me Down"

Concert Review

We got to the Paramount about 6p on the nose, 2 hours before it started. There was already about a good 20-30 ppl in line ahead of us but not to bad really. So being Seattle and all, they had us standing out in the freaking RAIN with no cover outside the theater btw, so that was just delightful for the hour+ before they let us in. So around a little after 7 they opened the doors and let us in... BUT there was no cameras allowed and I had brought mine hoping for some good shots but they had people feelin' everyone up to make sure no one was bringing camera, weapons, knives, pointy sticks, or outside food etc... so I had to take the film and batteries out of the camera for me to be let in. Oh well, after we got into the main theater, we got as close to the front as possible, I ended up being about 4-5 people back which really wasnt that bad since I'm tall. I actually pitty the people behind me.

So after sitting on the floor and having my legs and feet go numb for 45 minutes, Tonic takes the stage at 8 and it was a thing of beauty :)

They opened with "FUTURE SAYS RUN" which made for an awesome opener, the crowd was with them the whole time!

Next was "DRAG ME DOWN" which was a killer too.

But once they started "YOU WANTED MORE" they had the whole audiance singing along. It was also around this song that about 3 away people to my right all started jumping up and down (more on that later)

Then they played "SUGAR" which they did great!

And then Em introduced the next song as the one that started it all "OPEN UP YOUR EYES"

After that Em said this was for any guy that wants a woman he can never have, and proceeded to play "MOUNTAIN"

From that they went straight into the next song which was the best one they did the whole night by far "KNOCK DOWN WALLS". The power they put into that song was incredible. I was totally singing along through the whole thing.

After that inbetween songs Jeff was playing a little bit of Zepplin which led into "CASUAL AFFAIR". During this song I think it was, Jeff and Em did there little back and forth thing and Em was giving him the bird! It was hella funny. Then towards the end, (I could have killed Em for this!) he had everyone start jumping up and down, which totally made the makeshift moshpit right beside me get out of control. Then Emerson had everyone do this screaming contest thing.

Next Emerson said that if anyone in your life is giving you shit, tell them to get the fuck out :) and he started in with "MEAN TO ME". Only dumb thing was the moshpit started spawning a few crowd surfers and it was really distracting during some of the best parts of the song, but during the last verse he did include the f word along with it so I was happy cause that was the best part of the song anyhow heehee.

Then before the last song, Em was talking about when he was getting married 10 years ago and his mother didnt agree with his desision and what he told her was...... "IF YOU COULD ONLY SEE" and the crowd was singing along through the WHOLE song, it was great!

And then it was done... we didnt even stay for 3EB. They're ok and all, but the girl I went with didn't like them a whole lot either so we just decided to leave after Tonic finished. I got what I had come for! :)
